Benoît Dantin was born in 1977 near Grenoble (France) right next to the French Alps in a family of musicians. As a child, he learnt to play the clarinet with his father. When he was ateenager, as he already knew he would be teaching music somehow, he learnt to play the piano and during high school, he started on the bassoon.
He later went to Marseille in the South of France where he graduated as a music teacher and he flew to Tahiti to start teaching at the Conservatory of French Polynesia.
He came back to France at 25 and had multiple teaching positions in Dunkirk, Sablé-Sur-Sarthe, Le Mans and Ajaccio. He became a Professor in 2018 and currently teaches Music Education (Theory/Solfège) at the Calais Conservatory.
In parallel, Benoît Dantin is also a composer, and he was awarded at the International Composition Contest “Coups de Vents” in 2018 where he was also a finalist many times.
He is often requested to compose for chamber music as well as orchestra, symphonicand band.
His travels across the world (in Canada, Bulgaria, Colombia,
Germany…) gave him a great open-mindedness and humanist approach towards music and teaching.
His educational methods are based on discussion, exchange, group energy and the discovery of many different music types with the aim of expending the leaners’ culture.
Written and spoken musical languages are equally important so that everyone can find the ideal way to express themselves.
